It had begun as a voyage of adventure -- a trip to exotic China and the South Pacific aboard the sailing ship The Secret Duchess. But for beautiful Charlotte Hayworth, it soon became an excursion into horror.

For the ship echoed with ominous portents: its cargo was a dead man's ashes and a golden, jewel-encrusted statue; and it carried an assortment of passengers who appeared to share a sinister secret. As Charlotte's terror mounted, she was confronted by a savage murder...and the possibility that the ship's captain -- her own husband -- was the killer. And then came the terrible event that would force her to fight for her life!
