About This Book

It is 2025 and our story is set in a devolved UK region where the police service is sponsored by 'Crimecrackers - working in partnership with a police officer in your area'. This is emblazoned along the flanks of every police car. 'Crimecrackers' is a security firm cashing in on the success of its sponsored body, hence the practice of senior officers to encourage their minions to record only the easily detectable transgressions of their flock; due diligence would of course play havoc with the percentages, lowering the success rate and may even sow seeds of doubt in the minds of the sponsors who, as they are a profit led business may begin to question the wisdom of pouring money into an unsympathetic police service.
Anarchy on the streets has not yet completely taken over, although there are those who would argue that point, especially those in Church Bromley who wish to start their own street patrols; because you see, some of the more respectable members of Church Bromleys' society have had enough, their attitude being, if the authorities can't or as is more likely don't want to do anything about restoring order then they will do it themselves. As you can imagine, this doesn't go down well with those in power.
