In which Severin von Kusiemski falls in love with Wanda von Dunajew: an intense, voluptuous love that can only be enjoyed in submission. For Severin, love is enslavement, and Wanda must become his cruel and capricious Mistress.
Published in 1870, Sacher-Masoch's notorious novel entered not only the world's lexicon, giving us the term masochism, but into its collective consciousness: the whips, and furs, and leather, have permeated the sexual landscape of the world.
