THE KILLINGS ARE SATISFYING Vanessa Shapiro has killed, it is the first. There are more to come. Nothing connects the murders besides what Vanessa tells, Andrea Jones, a young reporter for the Chicago Tribune. The journalist is the only connect the police has to the killer-a killer that promises to take the city for a ride. THE CHASE IS ON Detective Jack Yancey and Faye Miller are assigned to a homicide that turns out to be a serial killer. Chicago PD is stumped and their only link to the killer is the young journalist. The detectives pursue what leads they get, but nothing makes sense, and it's frightening for the detectives to know that they must wait for another kill to get another clue. HARD-KNOCK LIFE IN HOMICIDE Jack's marriage is failing and so is Faye's. His wife has left him and their six year old daughter to fend for themselves while she 'finds' herself. Faye is separated from her controlling and manipulative, rich husband who has cheated on her one too many times. The detectives work the case while trying to get their personal lives on track, but find that the killer, Vanessa, has something in store for them that has the detectives' personal lives intertwined in the twisted and frightening killings, more than they would have ever imagined.
