About This Book

Tragedy changes 14-year-old Shannon’s life forever. Her ninth grade friends, Shera and Tim, offer comfort and support as she tries to go on with her life.

Daniel and Shannon first meet at a summer Sunday mass. Daniel, Shannon, Shera and Tim attend Hillyer Academy as ninth graders. Shannon and Daniel fall in love. Shera spends time with Peter, and Tim struggles to find that one special girl.

Shannon has a major conflict with a relative who moves in with her. She becomes an emancipated minor and gets her driver’s license. She focuses her time and energy working toward becoming a medical doctor.

Shannon’s happiest days are volunteering at the city hospital and a non-profit clinic where Shera’s mom is in charge. With Daniel’s support Shannon searches and locates her paternal grandparents. Daniel shares with Shannon his dream of becoming a Roman Catholic priest. They continue their relationship. Then Daniel returns to his homeland, the Philippines, for the summer to assist his uncle at an orphanage.

Shannon is forced to rethink her dislike for a family member when a medical emergency arises. The long-term friendship of Shannon, Shera, and Tim deepens as they continue to share their hopes and dreams.
