The bike trail through Fishersville was usually peaceful. Mother Lavinia Grey of Saint Bede's Episcopal Church enjoyed cycling along it...until she pedaled onto a brutal crime scene. Shot to death was the town's most hated man--the greedy developer who wanted to turn the little League where the Angels played into a resort hotel. The entire baseball team and their coaches were immediately under suspicion. And Mother Vinnie was worried about several junior members of her flock had strayed close to crime before. It wasn't in her job description, but she was soon snooping around the ball field and landing back in the company of the once-amorous detective Dave Dogg, who as a married man was definitely a foul ball for romance. Could a child have committed the killing? Mother Vinnie is on the side of the Angels, but another murder may test her faith...or endanger her life.
