Two Times Murder

When George Gay, editor of a chain of detective magazines, is stabbed in the back, there are too many suspects without a single alibi between them. Added to which is a certain lack of motive - apart from Gay's unpopularity. Lieutenant Symes of Homicide is not the only one baffled by the case. John Fleming, Gay's assistant, is told by his boss to find the killer. A writer from New York is too conveniently on the spot to be ignored, but Fleming can't make him talk until Gay's girlfriend breaks down. But that is after the second murder...
