This book is fiction, even if it is intended to convey the realism of combat and of the lives of men who fought there. It features the lives of former Vietnam veterans (who are also featured in previous Brothers to the Bone books) as they fought to equip, train and lead the Afghani tribesmen in the resistance to the Soviet Occupation of Afghanistan and against the loyalists of the Afghan puppet regime. It has the drama of their personal and professional lives. It has romance, and it has the combat they engaged in. It has intrigue and the struggle, even the horrors of war. It has good guys and bad guys. It has heroes and villains. It faces off against evil, both at home and abroad. It is intended to be a testament to brave men who fight to keep us safe and to preserve our way of life â€" lives of freedom, self government, and honor.
