About This Book

Abandoned by his wife Pastor Jim Hill searches for peace, God's will and love. Twin Oaks is a small out of the way southern town that progress passed by. Most of the town folk attend Twin Oaks Baptist Church where the old-time hymns are still sung and only married men can serve as deacons. They prefer their preacher to read from the King James Version, visit the old folks and never mention politics from the pulpit. To their horror the preacher's wife up and left him. The deacons are under pressure to fire him. The Methodist pastor is in love with him and the rich matron of the town is secretly aiding her to win over Pastor Jim Hill. Pastor Hill has misery on top of misery. His mother dies after being raped, he's beaten by muggers, his car is stolen, and he's on the verge of bankruptcy. Well-meaning friends suggest he quit ministry and start a new life, which is the equivalent of "curse God and die". Jim's heart is broken, his career is all but finished and his faith is faltering. The inner spiritual struggles, fears, and pride drive him to learn the true meanings of forgiveness and love.
