Twice in the Heart

Q Pilcrow has never been very good at staying out of trouble. After returning home from her most recent incarceration in Tulare County's female detention unit, someone very close to her is brutally murdered, and the cops think she had something to do with it. Keeping clear of county jail long enough to beat the police and a tenacious private detective to the real killer will not be easy, but that's what she must do in order to take the law into her own hands (again). Officer Martha Crosby and Q have always had a complicated relationship, ever since they were kids. As a policewoman, Martha is not in the business of letting anyone get away with murder. Not even best friends. Lingering suspicions regarding Q's possible involvement in the disappearance of the top suspects send Martha on a search for answers, but before she can track Pilcrow down, she's caught up in a landslide of troubles all her own Now, hunting the same deadly killers for very different reasons, Q Pilcrow and Martha Crosby must set aside their personal issues to work together tracking them down or Q might lose the only loved one she has left and Martha may never regain the nerve it takes to serve and protect. But can they?
