Treasured Prince

As the third-born prince Alatore is obligated to become a soldier. This is the last thing the intellectual and romantic prince wants, but when his mother is killed his father makes him swear he'll devote himself to protecting the kingdom.

Alatore heads off to a neighboring kingdom for training. On the way there a wraith swoops him off his horse and into the arms of Lord Vartan: a demon who collects beautiful things.

Alatore is indignant about becoming Vartan's latest conquest, but then becomes mesmerized by the demon's vast collection of treasures. He gets so excited over the artifacts he completely forgets why he's been kidnapped—until Vartan's tour comes to an abrupt end at a massive bed.
