About This Book

Transcontinental Blues is a work of fiction based on actual facts about the Selective Service Draft in the sixties and especially in 1968, during the Vietnam"War." I describe what getting drafted was really like and how basic training and active duty changed people's lives forever. Although the characters are not real people they too are representative of actual people I met during college and my time in the USAF during the Vietnam "War." The lies, corruption, cover ups, misinformation and ignorance of military officials and government bureaucrats are described in detail in the book. The lead characters must find ways to overcome all these things. The reader will share these unique solutions with the colorful characters. Since I was drafted three times in the sixties, I have first hand information to share with the reader. The book is the only text that I am aware of that actually tells the reader what really happened and what it was like being drafted and in the military during the Vietnam Era in America. Thanks for reading my new book,Tom KingAuthor
