At the heart of this story is a daughter's love for her mother and a mother who struggles to find herself. Rarely is one woman's struggle for inner peace so poignantly displayed as in this affectionate and unflinchingly family love with the one bond that can never be broken, unconditional love. Essence is a young lady whose focus is on family, friendship and education as she epitomizes confidence in all that she does. Through it all she stays positive and determined to maintain her family by standing by her mom and helping her through her struggles. Growing up fatherless and without direction in life, Cheryl tries to find love and comfort in the many men that she meets. But when Cheryl many life trials leads her to turn to a life of prostitution, crime and drugs, she tries to make good and get off the streets of New York City and the lifestyle she fell victim to. Cheryl finds inspiration in her daughter, whose goals of keeping her family together and living a prosperous life gives her strength and hope for a better life.
