When Red Vance learned that Henry Christian had offered $1,500 for some worthless mining stock, he smelled a trick.

Christian had a rep for swindling blind men out of pennies.

When the gambler raised the ante to ten G's, Red knew the stock must be worth ten times that much. And when Christian offered $50,000 to Red's trail partner to pull a double cross, Vance decided to pay a visit to the mine.
