About This Book

Tommy Carter has a serious problem about money. He loves it. The first time he realized what a capitalist was, he was determined to become one. With the help of his brother and friends, every summer he starts a new venture. From dog walking, yard mowing, and window cleaning he works hard at bringing in the cash. Unfortunately, none had reached the pinnacle of success he hoped for. The summer before he built a lemonade stand in front of city hall in the small southern town he lives in. Everything was going great until Tommy decides to expand the menu to include tuna fish sandwiches. He still didn't understand why everyone blamed him when half the town came down with food poisoning. How was he supposed to know that the hot sun would spoil tuna fish? This year would be different! He, his brother and their friends had drawn up meticulous plans for a sail boat. They will sell boat rides up and down the near-by river to all the kids in town. The design is sure to amaze his uncle, who owns the only lumber yard in town and can donate the necessary supplies. How can his uncle say no to such a profitable venture? Not only did his uncle say no… he was regrettably a victim in the now historical tuna fish sandwich debacle… but laughed at the plan. He told the boys they will end up drowning half the kids in town and he doesn't want that on his conscience. He assures them he is still hearing about the now historic panic of food poisoning that incapacitated the town for five days the summer before. When they boys pleads he laughs and promises he will give them lumber when pigs fly. Annoyed at the same old adage the kids heard every day, Tommy decides they will teach the adults in town a lesson. They will fly a pig over the Fourth of July parade. Tommy promises his friends they will be a legends in their own time and are way too smart to ever get caught. After all, what can go wrong?
