Christmas time finds Trent, Demi, and Sterling struggling with their emotions that are a mixture of terror and excitement. They will be returning to their grandparents ranch and that awful faded red car that had whisked them away into some of history's most horrific times this summer. They know they won't be able to resist the temptation to climb back inside the car when they return. They find themselves experiencing first hand the Salem Witch Trials, the dust storms of the 1930s Depression Era, The 1900 Galveston hurricane, and finally running Rum for Al Capone from Canada across the US border. They learn the value of honesty, loyalty, and the hardships that were endured the ground work that lay the foundation of our country and its laws and values today
