Desperate for a job, Jody lied about her age to work with the eminent historian. She never expected that one day she'd be taking on more than dictation.

The ruggedly handsome, dark-haired historian Harold Donnington has little time in his life for children. However, when he hires the orphaned 22-year-old and very plain Jody as his new secretary and allows her and her adorable 5-year-old sister Kate to live in the carriage house on his estate in the Hampshire countryside, he gets more than he expected. Behind the fake eyeglasses and dowdy disguise she adopts to get the job, is a lovely blonde and blue-eyed 18-year-old, and Donnington is soon won over by love and a new way of life.
