Timeslide

They live cut from their past by a crippled memory. They don't remember the world they lived in five years before. They don't know who they were, who they are, nor why do they live underground below the wreckage of a forgotten civilization. They only know that, in order to survive as free beings, they have to fight an enemy who seems inexhaustible in its numbers. An enemy created for no other reason than to replace them upon the face of the visible world. An enemy in the shape of myriads of children whose only weapon is their utter defenselessness. But when the time of looking for real answers finally comes, they realize their lost memories might well lie dormant deep in the darkest layers of their enemies' minds, engraved in neural tissue, encoded in quantum prints.
