Stone was on his knees in front of a man who had orders to shoot him in the head and dump his body in the sewer. He didn't think his life could get any worse than this.

He'd been locked in what could be described as a dream that put him in Los Angeles in 1937, where he was shot at by a loyal member of the United States Army and cornered in a room full of nerve gas canisters. Then there was the mock-up of the Oval Office and being on the wrong end of four heavy machine guns stitching tracer bullets through the night sky. What could all of this possibly mean?

As if that wasn't enough, his boss then sends him on a suicide mission to rescue the United States from death and degradation, less than 2 hours after being married. Stone at least had a chance to say goodbye to his new wife, knowing she'd be a widow before the week was out.
