Ex-cop Alex Fontana had come to Albright College to covertly investigate a charge of sexual harassment on campus. But he was having trouble keeping his mind off his mysterious neighbor. They'd never met, but every night, beautiful piano music would float up through the floorboards, only to halt abruptly after the first missed note.

Pianist Lauren Wyler, teaching music while she recovered from a hand injury, resented the man upstairs terribly. It humiliated her that he could hear her every mistake. She was prepared to hate him... until mutual concern for a young student's welfare brought them together.
