The Withdrawing Room

Money problems are making pretty Sarah Kelling anything but a merry widow. Renting out rooms to Boston's upper crust seems the very proper way to survive genteel poverty on Beacon Hill--until the curmudgeonly old gentleman in the withdrawing room suite steps out for the day and into the path of a speeding Boston subway.

The eyewitness account of an elderly trashpicker convinces sweet Sarah that this unfortunate accident had malice aforethought. And who but her eccentric array of paying guests are the perfect suspects in murder so foul? A new tenant soon takes down our luckless landlady's "Vacancy" sign ... but Death is about to serve another eviction notice on the balmy boarders of the Kelling family manse.
