The Winter Duke

After a failed London Season, Miss Lydia Grenville returns to the country with little hope of finding a love match. She seeks solace in her sketching, often sneaking out of her house to draw in the woods surrounding nearby Winterbourne Castle.

But her peace is disrupted by a rumpled stranger she assumes is the secretary to the new Duke of Winterbourne. His playful intelligence captivates Lydia's heart. Destined to marry a noble, she knows her attraction to this man is quite hopeless and meeting him unaccompanied in the woods is quite scandalous.
