About This Book

Like the lighthouse keepers that they derive their name from, the Wickies are four young teens growing up on the coast of Maine charged with keeping the lanterns that guide others from danger safely lit. In their case however it is not the lanterns of a lighthouse, but the beacons of each other's souls (and indirectly all of ours) that they have vowed to keep lit for eternity. Despite being handicapped with both severe physical and mental challenges, the foursome manage to lead productive and normal lives, that is until they accidentally get caught up in a particularly nasty smear campaign launched by a particularly power hungry politician. What this stop-at-nothing official doesn't know is that three of these companions share a potentially devastating longtime secret. No one expects what will happen next nor can they possibly imagine how it will end. This fictional story is meant to be a timely look at our incredible personal liberties and to recognize the sacrifices that so many have made so that we may be able to make choices, (or not make them as the case may be). Wonderful things can truly happen when we choose to make the correct choices.
