The Wedding Guest

The two beautiful Findon sisters were blessed with all the advantages of a prosperous provincial background in the early years of the twentieth century, the last golden age in English history. Their niece, Elinor, was enthralled as a child by her father's stories of his boyhood home, Hoodman House. But when Elinor's mother dies and she goes to live with the aunts she barely knows, the Edwardian Age is over; the Great War has shattered her aunts' lives and the lives of the people she meets. Elinor finds that some other event, closer at hand, and more personal, has overshadowed the closely interwoven lives of the two women with whom she has thrown in her lot. Elinor's growing suspicion that the quiet surface of country life may be deceptive fails to prepare her for the appalling truth it conceals.
