The Unlucky Collie Caper

After graduation from veterinarian school, Jennifer Grey has returned to Calico to live with her wise and wonderful grandfather, who is the local pastor, and his gregarious housekeeper, Emma. One of the chief delights of this series is getting to know the quirky residents of Calico who assist Jennifer in her investigations—from the overworked (and overfed) sheriff who connives with Jennifer, to the ambitious young attorney who adores her.

In this first book of the series, Jennifer is asked to treat a dog who has obviously been poisoned with strychnine. Jennifer's natural curiosity turns to suspicion when the dog's owner, Pam Aldrich, claims the poison was meant for her!
