It's 1958 and young schoolboys Tommy Nelson and Steve Baker are the best of friends growing up on a council estate in the Barchester suburb of Southfields. Life is challenging and exciting. Steve's gifted, both as a footballer and academically and goes on to grammar school. Tommy's passion is motorbikes and singing. He fails his exams and ends up in the local secondary school. Inevitably they drift apart and the gutsy story follows their journey from their teens to adulthood and the trials and tribulations they face in their attempt to fulfil their dreams and aspirations. The Ultimate price is a fast moving, incident packed saga where romance, murder and mystery are never far away for the protagonists. The gangster underworld's involvement is also prominent and the occult even plays a sinister and pivotal part in the intriguing, developing story.
