Meeka's had to help Uncle Eli Trout out of some scrapes before, but none as big as this one. He's convinced an expert that a letter -- supposedly signed by George Washington -- proves the first president was a traitor. Reporters from around the country descend on rural Vermont, determined to ferret out the truth. But none are as determined -- or as angry -- as Cameron Benson, the publisher of American Historic. Cameron's magazine not only bought the letter for big bucks, but declared Eli's forgery the real thing. His credibility's at stake -- he wants blood, Eli's blood.
