The Transylvania Flying Squad of Detectives

Lt. Tom Flynn had been told he'd end up in Purgatory someday from everyone from Sister Katherine, his first grade teacher, to Father O'Connor, Battalion Chaplain, but no one had told him policemen there maintain law or order among a citizenry of witches, vampires and other creatures, as well as humans, at least in one spot there - Transylvania City. So he joined the Transylvania Detective Squad, but he might not have if he'd known, just a few days in, he would need to stop the most notorious villain of all time from escaping from Purgatory and returning to earth or the beautiful, young woman he'd fallen in love with would die at this villain's hand before the Transylvania Cathedral bells rang out the hour. So if you are worried Tom might lose this contest, then you might like to know he had a plan to prevent this most tragic outcome, but you should be warned it was a desperate, hastily-conceived, not-fully-thought-out plan that he came up with at the last moment.
