The Talk of the Town

Daphne's visit to her Aunt Effie was allowed with much misgiving. For Effie had once been the toast of London. Her beauty attracted men of all kinds --husbands, sons, brothers, fathers. Her first marriage ended in a scandalous divorce and the notoriety forced her to flee.

Now Effie planned to publish her memoirs and half of London was turning pale with tenor. Everyone wanted to buy her silence--and suddenly she was being courted by the very people who had shunned her.

As for Daphne, when she crossed swords with a certain young duke who claimed Daphne and Effie were black- mailing his family, she had no inkling of what was in store....
