The Stonewalkers

Poppy Brown has such a tendency to make up stories that only her loyal friend Emma believes the amazing news Poppy tells her: One of the statues on the estate where her mother works has been struck by lightning and has come to life! Belladonna, as Poppy has named her, has disappeared onto the moors with other statues following her.

Fascinated, Poppy and Emma set out to track down the stone figures. But soon their amazement turns to terror. Belladonna and her friends have become spiteful semihuman beings, and, believing the girls are enemies, capture and threaten them. How can Poppy and Emma escape the heavy, menacing figures who know nothing of pain or hurt — or kindness?
