About This Book

1967. Newcastle, Australia, a city with beautiful beaches voluntarily patrolled by surf lifesavers. Twenty year olds Jack Martin and Terry Bannister are linked by this and the war in Vietnam. Jack's future is focused on the emergent world of computing. Terry has a dark side, one involving drug smuggling. Terry and Jack clash. Then Terry vindictively robs Jack of Susie, his first love. The pair is sent to Vietnam in 1968, where Jack meets Harry Jameson, H, who becomes his mentor, Jenna, a nurse, and Gene, a US soldier under cover chasing the drug trail. Against a backdrop of Viet Cong attacks and large scale drug smuggling, Jack and Terry collide again. Jack is shot and Terry jailed as a result. Both back in Australia, the enmity escalates to a climax in the late 1970s. When Susie reappears, Terry decides to be rid of them both. Jack devises an ingenious but foolhardy scheme of revenge. When it misfires, Susie and Jack's daughter Natalie are placed at dire risk. Jack is forced to reprise his Vietnam War skills in a desperate attempt to save Natalie and Susie. But with blood spilled, Jack and Jenna's lives will change forever.
