When Lady Isabella Greenlea was sent to London to find a husband, Mr. Chesney Carlyle followed her in short order, afraid that the girl would choose an inappropriate alliance. In fact, this suited Isabella very well, for Ches was the husband she had chosen!

While Ches drew up lists of suitable candidates for marriage, Isabella seemed to be all but seduced by an impoverished earl, his eccentric aunts, their bevy of pugs,- the spectre that haunted their mansion and the treasure he had hidden there.
