About This Book

Life in the big city was comfortable for Worth and Abbie Roon. But as with so many others at the turn of the 19th century, the promise of land and a new life in the West was a shining light that beckoned, illuminating hearts and imaginations. For Worth it was simple: Sell! Move West! Homestead! For Abbie the issue was more difficult, though loyalty won and she willingly embraced his dream as her own. And indeed, Saskatchewan was verdant and lovely, a land to be prized. But it was also harsh. Even as it promised, it threatened. Worth and Abbie knew well that it would be a struggle to carve out this new existence in a territory where the summers were short and toilsome and the winters were long and lonely. They also knew that together they could overcome an adversity. But can Abbie hold on to the dream alone? Where is God's fight when everything else seems so dark?
