P.J. Lafferty, a therapist assigned to the woman's psych ward at New York's infamous Rikers Island, is blamed for her role in the stabbing death of a prisoner. Struggling to start her life over, she takes on private patients and starts working with a therapist of her own. Just as things seem to be looking up, P.J. discovers disturbing new developments regarding the murder-implicating the victim's estranged and sadistic husband, threatening the safety of her only child, and trapping an eyewitness in an inescapable nightmare. Now, only P.J. can stop a ruthless killer in his tracks.
