Silverton Colorado, final destination of one of the most famous narrow-gauge steam trains in the worldâ€"any kid would be thrilled to take a ride, especially if it meant getting out of school, right? Well, not Kade Crawford, a “poor little rich girl,” yanked from her 8th grade class in Illinois, right before the big dance and graduation. Without much explanation, Kade is forced to take an instant vacation with her brother and a father she hardly knows.
And in Silverton, living in his family-owned hotel, fifteen-year-old Pat McKinney, “a rich little poor boy,” takes responsibilities far beyond his years due to a heartbreaking mystery: What happened to his father, the train’s engineer, five whole years ago?
