Destitute, alone, mourning the death of her drowned fiancee, Charlotte Wiscombe becomes secretary to Lady Igraine, the mistress of Awen Castle. A grim stone fortress perched high above the angry, foaming sea. Awen Castle fills Charlotte with a sinister sense of impending doom.

And there is something chilling about Lady Igraine and the other inhabitants of this strange house--their white blonde hair and pale, lashless eyes continually watching her, appraising her every move, as though they have her in mind for some bizarre ritual.

Then Charlotte hears an eerie nighttime chanting. Something weird and unholy is taking place at Awen Castle--something that threatens her very life!
