About This Book

Janice Dennison worked for the most boring job in America. She worked as an operator for the giant DEW Corporation (Distillation by the Evaporation of Water). Located a mile from the Pacific Ocean in the desert of California, it pumped seawater into huge covered evaporation ponds where the sunlight through the transparent roofs evaporated the water onto the roofs draining it into huge tanks and leaving the ever thickening brine to eventually turn into sea-salt. There were buyers for both products. Janice read a lot on the job. Watching water evaporate was not much thrill to that. Then again when a sinkhole developed within one of the evaporation ponds and thousands of the spirits of ancient seafarers came out to infest the area with their presence - things were not so boring anymore!
