This a novel about the police, paticullary the ones that serve in the east end of a large Canadian City. All citys have some type of east end with the usual residents; proverty ridden, homeless, druggies pimps and hooker and those who prey on the lowest of low.

Xavier O'Malley, a man soul is scared from loss and bitterness, Is the Staff-Sargeant is in charge of Arrest Proccessing the hub of policing in the city. All arrest must go through Aresst Proccesing. Xavier watches and waits for him that killed his love.

Rose is a hooker whose life has been lived on the streets she and Xavier have been friends since they met. Unknown to her her life to date has been a test for she is to be The Spiderwoman, a great Shaman, of 'The People', if the Creator deems her fit.

The Soul Slayer, who once was a great Wizard of the that saved 'The People', once known as Soul Saver has slipped down into evil. He has come to the east end and is destroying the weak, turning them into his army.
