Mandy and Jake Strange were pretty responsible kids. Mandy was sure she was responsible enough for a pet cat.

Jake wasn't convinced. It was one thing to take care of a house cat, but it was another story to have a cat in a museum, especially after five o'clock. Lately, when Jake or Mandy touched anything in the museum after hours they were transported to another place and time.

Jake thought that if they couldn't stay out of trouble, the cat would only make things worse. And when the cat sneaked into the Ancient Egypt hall and broke a display case, Jake knew they were in trouble.
