The Reluctant Daughters

Elizabeth Ackert, daughter of an Irish immigrant, is assaulted and abandoned at a tender age. To hide her shame and protect her illegitimate daughter, she accepts marriage to a wounded Civil War veteran in exchange for silence about her shame. Long before the current Me, Too! Movement, Elizabeth learned to cope in a man’s world of business, creating untold wealth, despite being shunned in society for her Irish heritage. When she learns her attacker plans to run for the presidency of the United States, she takes it upon herself to bring him down, but it will take the cooperation of her own reluctant daughter and granddaughters to pull off her scheme.
