Elijah Emerson returns to his hometown to take care of his family's estate after his mom passed away. But his plan for a quick trip goes awry when he sees his high school sweetheart, Taylor Mabrey. Nine years ago, they were supposed to run away and get married, instead she broke his heart, and he still doesn't know why.

When the threats follow Taylor and her home is burned down, Elijah feels compelled to protect her. Forced together, old feelings bubble to the surface as they confront their past, along with the reason Taylor ended things.
