Palifair and Tom are captured by the trogs of Fennoria. Blondor leads half of the company. They must follow and try and rescue them, before they are brought before the Witch-Queen Wargana, who seeks to possess the White Stone for herself. Meanwhile, Arlindor leads the rest of the company to Neutria, where the Red Stone is in the possession of the King of Neutria, and assist the Neutrian boatmen in their war with Allomania, The King Kreel has invaded Neutria to capture the Red Stone for himself. The fate of New Earth depends on whether or not Blondor and Arlindor can united the nations of Truemans in their war against the Lord of Darkness and his allies.
