The Pi Effect

Admiral Horatio Logan has been thrown into the deep end before. He is a survivor; he'd survived the Xeno war, woken to terrible indentured servitude on the Anvil station for nearly a century, and then when Admiral Irons returned, left to fend for himself with the growing navy. When he had been stationed in Bek, he had been accused of a series of trumped up charges and fought them as his implants tried to get him to suicide from the ill treatment in the brig. Now, years later he has been burned by the frequent trips to the forge but he is unbroken. Admiral Irons has given him a seemingly impossible task with a tight deadline in Pi Sector. The pirates are still in his sector and congress refuses to give him the ships and personnel to take them out once and for all. But if his life has taught him anything, the forge is where metal is shaped into tools and weapons. He is an engineer, a master smith, and he will bring the hammer down and get the job done.
