About This Book

Two women, one Christian and one Jewish, are separated in Europe during WW II. They find new homes in America and Israel, but continue searching for each other and for a faith to sustain them through the violent U.S. sixties and the Arab attacks on Israel. Dora becomes a Messianic Jew and Claire an Evangelical Christian; both must helplessly watch their children grow away from them and their values. Claire and Dora try to shield their families from the pain they themselves endured in Hitler's Europe. But they cannot escape the sorrow of seeing their children swept into social revolution, failed marriages, and wars fought by their adopted countries. Along with the people they love, Claire and Dora learn that the "pearl of great price," a new life in God, is hard to find and even harder to keep.
