The Paradox Syndrome

Laura Masterson been fascinated by the Spanish Flu epidemic that killed over fifty million people. Recovering a specimen of the virus could lead to a vaccine that might cure or prevent all infections. The dry climate of Paradox, NM could have preserved specimens of the virus in buried bodies. With construction beginning on a new dam, the corpses must be moved, giving Laura an opportunity to study the remains. Laura recovers a sample, but the mobile lab containing the virus is driven away by her bodyguard. Jack Stoner, the archeologist in charge of moving the cemetery, explains to Laura that he's actually an undercover agent tracking a pharmaceutical company suspected of planning to resurrect the Spanish Flu, find a cure, patent it, then release the deadly disease and reap billions of dollars from a panicking world.
