In the near future, a physician-astronaut finds himself confronted by an overwhelming personal and professional crisis aboard the International Space Station. He must protect his fellow space travelers from a terrible danger they refuse to recognize: the problem of sex in space... Fifteen years later, humanity's ultimate fate rests in the hands of a young engaged couple. After unseen aliens mysteriously terraform Mars, American astronaut Martin Slayton and his Russian counterpart Katerina Savitskaya travel to the Red Planet to uncover the reason for that world's miraculous transformation. There the aliens force the pair to undergo a series of agonizing trials that threaten each one's life and sanity. And if either one of them makes a wrong choice during those ordeals, both they and Earth will die...
