Griffins had ridden beside English kings since the time of William the Conqueror.

But now Roger Griffin found himself banished from the opulent court of Charles II. Penniless, Roger vowed to carve a new destiny for generations of Griffins yet unborn. He dreamed of recovering the age-old estate and fortune lost by his brother through brutal religious persecutions. And Nancy, his wife, who fought her way from the London slums to help found a new dynasty, pledged herself to her husband's dreams.

The Griffins hoped to create a trading company that would supply exotic luxuries from the East to the jaded court of the Stuart King. Their adversaries were pirates, political traitors, and the passionate warring of their own proud hearts.
