After an unhappy marriage that ended in divorce, Carolina is not about to take a chance on love again. All she wants is to tend to her bakery in Hartford, Connecticut and raise her two children as a single mother. But life takes an unexpected turn one summer when she goes to Miami with her children for a vacation. Her long-time family friend, Aroldo, is having his son smuggled in from Cuba and wants her to pick him up while in Miami. Carolina would prefer to steer clear of complications, but Aroldo is an older man who has been good to her family over the years, and she owes him this favor. The problem is that the man she befriends in Miami and brings back to Connecticut with her is not Aroldo's son. And by the time she learns this, she is already falling in love with him.
