How long could she keep up the lie?

"What's the matter, sweetheart? Did you forget your story?" Matt's voice was thick with sarcasm.

Lara shook her head. "No, I didn't forget." What good would it do to tell him the truth?

"Refresh my memory," he demanded, grasping her arm and jerking her close to him. "I want to hear it from your lips when there's no judge or jury around, when there's just me and you."

Lara stood staring at him for a while. He was a stranger to her now. If she didn't say something soon, he would probably break her arm.

"I saw you pull the trigger," she murmured. "I saw you shoot Randy Martin."
