The Night Orchid

Fiona Tóth, an 18-year-old emigrant woman, sings at an Upper East Side senior club and shares a small apartment with Yvette, a streetwise call girl. A young man, Steve, befriends Fiona and promises her a better future in show business. She gets a job at an upscale nightclub. She has a crush on Steve, but the young man betrays her and marries for money. In revenge, Fiona gives herself to Nick, a Greek shipping tycoon, and becomes a kept woman. Steve attempts to rape her. Fiona fights him off, but in reprisal, Steve gives a deposition to the police that Fiona murdered an elderly rich woman. Will Fiona be able to prove her innocence and become a better person? Will Steve's good side be stronger than the influence of his unscrupulous cohorts? Will he confess his role in the murder and free Fiona even if it means his demise?
